Newsletter #6!

29 July 2016

Dear Friends,

Were you able to see my last newsletter featuring my videos of a street watch repair stall and graffiti in a parking lot? Please catch up with my past newsletters here.

I’m excited for you guys to see the video I shot of the graffiti artist Flip One. He commented on a couple of my graffiti photos online, and he invited me to watch him paint a wall in Taytay, Rizal.

The graffiti piece is written in baybayin, the precolonial Filipino alphabet.

Before dropping by the site, he took me to a different wall full of great graffiti in Marikina. It’s a very long wall full of great pieces. Scroll down to see photos and videos of this place.

There’s also a set of three photos of Manila at night.

The videos and photos here are all stuff I made since the last newsletter.

This letter’s featured stamp is from Vietnam, featuring this cool beans double decker caravan pulled by the Atlantic steam locomotive. If you want to see more, check out my Stamp Library.

I’ve joined the madness that is Snapchat. My username is heygem. Please add me to your Snapchat buddy list.

Hope you enjoy this month’s dispatch. Please forward this to friends of yours who may be interested, and ask them to subscribe too!

From the Web

Ever since I read The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved years ago, I’ve been fascinated by everything Kentucky Derby related.

I recently came upon this photo series of a modern-day Kentucky Derby shot on expired film. I loved it, and I think you guys will too. The expired film here goes really well with the photos. It’s not just some cheesy gimmick.

Past Work:

In keeping with the Manila Noir theme, this is a photo I took of two people sitting on the side of Nagtahan Bridge at 10:23 PM on May 23, 2010.
