My friend took me to Jim’s Pares & Mami, a famous street food diner in a car wash lot on Maria Orosa Street, in Malate, Manila, Philippines some days ago.
Another moniker the greasy spoon diner has is “pares usok” (smoky beef stew).
“Pares” is a Filipino braised beef stew dish typically served with rice. This joint also gives you the option of “mami noodles” if you don’t feel like having rice. “Mami” is a simple kind of Filipino noodle popular in street food dishes.
